If its one question I get asked alot it is on What does Islam Mean in Arabic?
You have many Muslims online saying Islam means Peace, which is an absolute Lie, in fact Islam is a War Term Muhammad used in many of his Offensive Battles & Murder Sprees Meaning =Surrender.
An example is when Islamics attack Israel, it is an Offensive Action & Not at all a defensive action, because many Muslims taught in the mosques are told that Israel is the enemy.
I know this by personal experience within Israel, an hearing the teachings of many of the Imams,Sheiks & Islamic Scholars.
The Quran, Hadith & Sunnah all back this up.
After the Horrors of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 2001,
the world news media went into complete politically correct mode & allowed Muslims to distort the actual meaning of Islam.
Islam, they say, is derived from salam, the word for "peace".
This reflects to a false tranquil nature about the religion of Islam.
As an example USA Today posted a brief appraisal of Islam that asserted,"God's message was reaffirmed & finalized by the prophet Muhammad. Islam is a religion of peace, mercy & forgiveness."
The Assessment overlooks some important details of the word Islam.
First, the word isn't rooted in the word Peace(salam) but in the infinitive word Salama, which can be translated as either "the stinging of a snake" or "the tanning of the leather". The root word which peace(salam) also comes, is then modified.
This changes the meaning empathetically. Hence, the term Islam has traditionally been translated as "SUBMISSION & SURRENDER UNTO RESIGNATION".
Second, there is no historical evidence that Islam had a connotation of "peace".
This explains why Muslim apologists have never substantiated there argument that Islam means peace.
On the other hand Muhammad himself clearly explained his intention by the word.
When the founder of Islam sent letters to Arabian tribal leaders to become Muslims & surrender to Al Ilah aka Allah, He Would Sign the letters Aslem, Taslam, "Surrender & you will be safe".
Therefore, Muhammad's use of the word meant surrender within the context of military conquest, not spiritual submission to Allah.
